How Average Draft Positions Have Changed in Recent Weeks: Part 2

September 12, 2017

Introduction

We present the NHL players that have seen their ADP values change the most over the past three weeks. These changes in ADP (today's focus in on players who are now being drafted later than they were three weeks ago) reflect the changes in how managers are valuing these players during their fantasy hockey drafts (these changes in valuation result from injury news, line combination updates, or insanity).

  • Aleksander Barkov - He's been hit with a massive full-round drop in ADP. This seems a bit shortsighted for a 22-year-old player on the verge of a breakout.
  • Ryan Kesler - The drop here is warranted given the uncertainty surrounding his return from hip surgery.
  • Jake Guentzel - He's been hit with a half-round drop in recent weeks. Are managers starting to realize he won't maintain his 19.8% shooting percentage?

  • Michael Del Zotto - A two-round penalty seems like a mistake here. Del Zotto will get an opportunity to run the power play and play full-time as a defenseman in Vancouver (something he wasn't given in Philadelphia last year).
  • Hampus Lindholm - With Lindholm expected to miss a good portion of October, a one-round penalty seems reasonable.

  • Brian Elliott - Wow. Managers either have little faith in Elliott or little faith in Philadelphia. He has dropped nearly three rounds in drafts over the past few weeks.
  • Scott Darling - He's already dropped five picks and has been pushed outside of the first 10 rounds in standard leagues. He's a major, draft-day steal at this price.
